Gathering in God’s Presence

†God’s Call to Worship                                                                                                Psalm 98:4-6

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody!
With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!

†Hymn of Praise                                                                     “Come, Thou Almighty King” #101

†Responding to God’s Call                                                                                   Ephesians 5:1-4

Pastor: Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Congregation: But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

†Invocation

Celebrating the Gospel

†The Gospel

Pastor: How is it that we may be saved?

Congregation: We are saved by God’s grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ according to the teaching of the Bible to the praise and glory of God.

†Confessing Our Faith                                                                                                Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man.

He was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; and His kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And we believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Call to Repentance                                                                                              Ephesians 5:15-21

Pastor: Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Congregation: Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

†Assurance of Salvation                                                                                      Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
